Darkstroke

Our Methodology

Data Sources

Our book data is aggregated from multiple reputable sources including community reading platforms with millions of active users, publisher catalogs, and the Open Library — an open, editable library catalog maintained by the Internet Archive.

Rating Methodology

Average ratings displayed on Darkstroke reflect the arithmetic mean of all reader ratings on a 1–5 scale. We display both the average rating and total number of ratings to give readers full context. Books with fewer than 10 ratings are flagged accordingly.

Genre Classification

Books are classified into genres based on community-sourced tags and publisher metadata. Each book is assigned a primary genre for URL structure and may appear in multiple genre categories based on reader-applied tags.

Comparison Metrics

When we compare a book to its genre or global average, we calculate these from the full dataset at the time of last update. These benchmarks provide useful context but are not absolute quality judgments.

Update Schedule

Our catalog data is reviewed and updated periodically. The “Last Updated” date on each book page reflects when that specific entry was last verified against source data.
